Roger Hinds Renaissance Tuflite Longboard Surfboard
Roger Hinds Renaissance Tuflite Longboard Surfboard
The Roger Hinds Renaissance Tuflite Longboard brings together classic longboard design and modern surfboard performance in a versatile board built for speed, glide and smooth rail-to-rail surfing. Designed by renowned shaper Roger Hinds and produced by Surftech in durable Tuflite construction, the Renaissance takes inspiration from the golden era of 1960s longboarding while refining the shape with contemporary rocker, rails and foil.
The result is what Surftech describes as a one-board longboard quiver — a board capable of delivering the trim and glide associated with a traditional longboard while offering the responsiveness needed for more progressive surfing.
Classic Longboard DNA, Modern Performance
The Renaissance revisits the classic longboard plan shapes of the 1960s, when longboard design was at its peak, but Roger Hinds hasn't simply reproduced an old-school shape.
Modern pulled-down rails allow the board to transition smoothly from rail to rail, providing greater control and responsiveness when turning. An advanced fine foil helps generate speed and glide, allowing the Renaissance to flow cleanly down the line.
It's this combination that makes the Renaissance particularly versatile. There's enough traditional longboard character for trimming and flowing through softer waves, but the modern refinements allow a more dynamic approach when the waves offer something to work with.
Designed by Roger Hinds
Roger Hinds brings decades of surfboard-shaping experience to the Renaissance. The design draws on the progression of boards he has shaped throughout his career, selecting elements from different eras and bringing them together in a modern longboard.
Surftech describes the Renaissance as Roger's most popular longboard, combining key design elements from the 1960s with modern rail and bottom concepts.
Rather than being locked into one particular style of longboarding, the Renaissance is designed to provide the glide, trim, turning ability and speed needed to surf a broad range of conditions.
Surftech Tuflite Construction
The Renaissance is built using Surftech Tuflite construction, combining a fused-cell EPS core with GreenPoxy® resin, E-glass fibreglass and a micro-sandwich wood veneer.
Surftech's construction incorporates composite T-stringers for power distribution and additional break strength, along with reinforced rails for durability. The wood veneer also contributes natural flex while increasing strength.
The result is a premium epoxy longboard designed to combine performance, responsive flex and durability.
Two Sizes Available
The Roger Hinds Renaissance is available in two longboard sizes, allowing you to choose between a slightly more responsive platform or maximum glide and paddle power.
9'4" Renaissance – 74.3L
Dimensions: 9'4" x 22" x 3.125" – 74.3 litres
The 9'4 provides the more compact option, retaining plenty of longboard glide and volume while offering greater manoeuvrability and responsiveness.
10'0" Renaissance – 88L
Dimensions: 10'0" x 22.75" x 3.375" – 88 litres
The 10'0 steps up the length, width and volume for increased paddle power, stability and glide — ideal for surfers who want to maximise the traditional longboard characteristics of the Renaissance.
Fin Setup
Fin choice can significantly alter how the Renaissance performs, allowing you to tune the board towards your preferred style of longboarding. Surftech notes that Roger Hinds has spent considerable time developing and testing fin shapes and sizes specifically for his boards.
Please note: fins are not included with the board.

Why You'll Love It
The real appeal of the Roger Hinds Renaissance is that it doesn't force you to choose completely between traditional and modern longboarding.
Its 1960s-inspired outline provides the foundation for the glide and trim that makes longboarding so enjoyable, while the modern rocker, pulled-down rails and refined foil bring greater speed, control and responsiveness into the design.
The Tuflite construction adds another dimension. The EPS core, epoxy resin, wood veneer, composite stringers and reinforced rails create a durable premium construction while retaining the flex and response required from a performance surfboard.
With both the 9'4 at 74.3L and 10'0 at 88L, you also have two distinctly useful options. The 9'4 leans towards manoeuvrability while retaining plenty of longboard glide, whereas the 10'0 maximises paddle power, stability and that effortless longboard flow.
For someone searching for a premium longboard surfboard in New Zealand that blends traditional styling with modern performance, the Roger Hinds Renaissance is a very strong proposition.
